Since we are in August, the traditional summer holiday month in Europe, let’s talk about fun.

I am curious – how much fun is there in your life currently,

A few years ago, I realised that I had a complicated relationship with fun.

I grew up in a conservative family with my parents doctors who tried to protect me from any perceived danger. The most fun I had as a child was reading fiction books and reliving the charasters’ adventures with them.

In my adult life, my journey to finding fun took me through different stages, and was not smooth.

Now in my early 50s, I know exactly what brings me joy and seek to have fun on a regular basis. Traveling to unknown places, dancing salsa, seeing friends and having a good laugh, discovering new wines, swimming in warm sea – all this is fun and super energizing to me.

I also make sure that my clients have fun while being trained and coached inside my leadership development programme for women, Elevate.

But why do we need to experience fun? You may be wondering.

TRUTH #1 –

Without the sense of joy and fun, we cannot recharge our batteries fully.

Fun is a great stress reliever, too. Without regular fun, we are more likely to burn out.

To keep our energy high, and to stay creative and resourceful, we need to have interests, hobbies and passions outside of our job/business/vocation. Even if we love what we do.

TRUTH #2 –

There is a direct correlation between your ability to have fun and confident, effective communication.

Having fun requires letting go of anxiety, perfectionism, self-judgement and self-criticism.

Same for confident and effective communication: we can’t speak up our truth with confidence (and executive presence) when we are feeling anxious, stressed, stuck in self-judgement or perfectionism.

I will be explaining how to find and use your voice to speak your truth (and to get recognition) in the forthcoming live masterclass for women in September. Look up for my email next week, so you don’t miss registration deadline.

In the meantime, here’re a few questions for you:

🥳 What is fun to you?
🌈 What brings you joy and lights you up?
🙋🏻‍♀️ How will it feel to prioritise fun a bit more in your life?
😎 How can you create space for fun next weekend?

Wishing you a great week,

Love,
Nadira
